The York County Planning Office issues building permits within the unincorporated areas of York County, the Town of Hickory Grove and the Town of Sharon.

Any residential or commercial building project that requires a permit must first receive a letter of acknowledgement and approval of the project from the Town of Sharon before contacting York County.

A permit is required when an owner, an authorized agent, or contractor desires to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building, or structure; or erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing systems.
